    Health education in Israel
Throughout Israel’s history, health education has always been a big part of our daily lives. Health education in Israel is extensive.
In modern day Israel, the different organizations make use of the media, as well as the law, to promote a healthy lifestyle. One such example is the song for kids around my age the music video ‘’Sun Smarts’’, which broadcast during commercial breaks on the children’s channel.
This song was produced by the ICA and was aimed at children, teaching them about the importance of sunscreen and using sunglasses, the catchy tune and simple lyrics, combined with the visuals promoting hydration, were very memorable and left a very big impression on many of us.
Health systems are the organizations that are obligated to deliver health care services, improve and sustain good health that will meet the needs of the target population.
The goal of a health care system as to WHO is to facilitate the needs of a population and promote fairness of financial contribution, so the population will not be suffering financial hardship when paying for them. There is a wide variety of health systems around the world, depending on the country.
Healthcare in Israel is universal and participation in a medical insurance plan is compulsory. All Israeli residents are entitled to basic health care as a fundamental right. The Israeli healthcare system is based on the National Health Insurance Law of 1995, which mandates all citizens resident in the country to join one of four official health insurance organizations, like Medical centers which run as not-for-profit organizations and are prohibited by law from denying any Israeli resident membership.
In addition to the Health Basket provided to all citizens, which provides coverage for basic and essential health care, every medical center fund provides their members with the option to acquire „supplementary insurance“ , which includes services and treatments that are not covered by the publicly funded system, including a wider range of surgeries, therapies, medications, and overseas travel insurance. Members can obtain supplementary insurance from their medical center by paying extra premiums, though they tend to be low.
In conclusion, it is evident that ever since the very beginning, there have been many efforts to raise health awareness in the public by various organizations as well as the ministry of health, using various methods. For the most part, they have successfully helped the population with practicing a healthier lifestyle, created a healthier environment and have made the relevant information accessible and common knowledge. The health education provided at school by the ministry of education could be improved, as well as the food provided at school cafeterias, but in general, I believe that the public is well informed regarding many health-related topics.
The health care systems in Israel try to provide the Israeli population the best healthcare they can, without the population suffering from financial difficulties .
